How to change your name with Seattle City Light
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how Seattle City Light takes a name change, from its own help page.
In person or by phone only. Seattle City Light is one of the few that won't change your name online. Call 206-684-3000 or visit, and bring your documents.
Seattle City Light's steps
City Light asks to hear about a change in the account holder's name within ten working days. It doesn't post online steps, so call customer service.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
