SDG&E's steps
Use SDG&E's online Residential Name Change Form. Have your account number, the last 4 digits of your Social Security number and your service address ready. Allow 3 to 5 business days.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for SDG&E and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
Checked against SDG&E's own page in October 2026. Companies change their process; confirm on their site or by phone before you send anything. Sasha isn't affiliated with SDG&E.
