How to change your name with PG&E
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how PG&E takes a name change, from its own help page.
In person or by phone only. PG&E is one of the few that won't change your name online. Call 1-877-660-6789 or visit, and bring your documents.
PG&E's steps
Names can't be changed online: call PG&E. A name change can trigger a credit check and a new deposit amount.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for PG&E and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
Checked against PG&E's own page in October 2026. Companies change their process; confirm on their site or by phone before you send anything. Sasha isn't affiliated with PG&E.
