How to change your name with NYSEG
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how NYSEG takes a name change, from its own help page.
NYSEG's steps
There's no online form for a name change. Call the Customer Relations Center (weekdays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) or write to NYSEG.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for NYSEG and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It can even print and mail it to NYSEG for you: no printer, no stamps. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
Checked against NYSEG's own page in October 2026. Companies change their process; confirm on their site or by phone before you send anything. Sasha isn't affiliated with NYSEG.
