How to change your name with National Grid (Massachusetts)
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how National Grid takes a name change, from its own help page.
In person or by phone only. National Grid is one of the few that won't change your name online. Call 1-800-322-3223 or visit, and bring your documents.
National Grid's steps
National Grid doesn't post online steps for a name change. Call the Customer Service Contact Center (weekdays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and ask what they need.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for National Grid and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
Checked against National Grid's own page in October 2026. Companies change their process; confirm on their site or by phone before you send anything. Sasha isn't affiliated with National Grid.
