How to change your name with Met-Ed
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how Met-Ed takes a name change, from its own help page.
In person or by phone only. Met-Ed is one of the few that won't change your name online. Call 1-800-545-7741 or visit, and bring your documents.
Met-Ed's steps
Met-Ed (FirstEnergy) doesn't post online steps for a name change. Call Customer Care (weekdays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and ask what they need.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for Met-Ed and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
Checked against Met-Ed's own page in October 2026. Companies change their process; confirm on their site or by phone before you send anything. Sasha isn't affiliated with Met-Ed.
