How to change your name with LADWP (Los Angeles Water & Power)
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how LADWP takes a name change, from its own help page.
In person or by phone only. LADWP is one of the few that won't change your name online. Call 1-800-342-5397 or visit, and bring your documents.
LADWP's steps
LADWP handles account changes by phone or at a Customer Service Center, not by email. Changing the name on an established account is free.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for LADWP and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
Checked against LADWP's own page in October 2026. Companies change their process; confirm on their site or by phone before you send anything. Sasha isn't affiliated with LADWP.
