How to change your name with FPL (Florida Power & Light)
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how FPL takes a name change, from its own help page.
FPL's steps
Log in and start a name change request, choosing marriage or divorce. FPL verifies it electronically or asks you to mail a form with one ID and your marriage license or divorce decree.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for FPL and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It can even print and mail it to FPL for you: no printer, no stamps. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
Checked against FPL's own page in October 2026. Companies change their process; confirm on their site or by phone before you send anything. Sasha isn't affiliated with FPL.
