How to change your name with Alabama Power
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how Alabama Power takes a name change, from its own help page.
In person or by phone only. Alabama Power is one of the few that won't change your name online. Call 1-800-245-2244 or visit, and bring your documents.
Alabama Power's steps
Alabama Power doesn't post online steps for a name change. Call Customer Service (weekdays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central) and ask what they need.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
