How to change your name with TransUnion
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how TransUnion takes a name change, from its own help page.
TransUnion's steps
Usually updates once your lenders report your new name. To request it directly, mail a letter with your address, date of birth and SSN plus a copy of your new license or court order. Uploads aren't accepted for names.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for TransUnion and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It can even print and mail it to TransUnion for you: no printer, no stamps. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
