Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how Equifax takes a name change, from its own help page.

Equifax's steps
Usually updates on its own once your lenders report your new name. To do it now: sign in to myEquifax under your former name, file a dispute on the old name (say it's a legal name change), and upload your new license or court order.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for Equifax and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
