How to change your name with Edfinancial (student loans)
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how Edfinancial takes a name change, from its own help page.
Edfinancial's steps
Upload a written request and a copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree, new license or Social Security card through your online account, or mail or fax it with your account number.
Where to mail it (from Edfinancial's own page):
Edfinancial (student loans)
P.O. Box 36008
Knoxville, TN 37930-6008
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for Edfinancial and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It can even print and mail it to Edfinancial for you: no printer, no stamps. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
