Experian's steps
Usually nothing to file: once your card companies and lenders update your name, it shows on your report within a month or two. Check your free report after a few months.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for Experian and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
