How to change your name with TIAA
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how TIAA takes a name change, from its own help page.

TIAA's steps
Complete the Notice of Change of Name (or write a letter signed in both names) and send proof such as a certified marriage certificate. Faxes aren't accepted.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for TIAA and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It can even print and mail it to TIAA for you: no printer, no stamps. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
