Fidelity's steps
Enter your new name online, then upload your ID and a selfie from the text link. Workplace 401(k)s are separate: update through NetBenefits or your employer.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for Fidelity and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
