How to change your name with Capital One (credit card)
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how Capital One takes a name change, from its own help page.
In person or by phone only. Capital One is one of the few that won't change your name online. Call 1-800-227-4825 or visit, and bring your documents.
Capital One's steps
Call the number on the back of your card. They may ask for a document with your new name.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
