How to change your name with Aidvantage (student loans)
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how Aidvantage takes a name change, from its own help page.
In person or by phone only. Aidvantage is one of the few that won't change your name online. Call 800-722-1300 or visit, and bring your documents.
Aidvantage's steps
Aidvantage doesn't post online steps for a name change. Call and ask what they need; have your marriage certificate or decree ready.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for Aidvantage and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
