How to change your name with MetLife
Married or divorced and updating your accounts? Here's how MetLife takes a name change, from its own help page.
MetLife's steps
Life insurance: send the Notification of Name Change form signed by all owners. Annuities and retirement products have their own name change form; call 800-638-2704 if unsure.
Have these ready
- A copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order (most companies ask for one).
- Your updated driver's license or ID, if you have it. Social Security comes first, then the DMV.
- Your account number, and the name the account is in now.
Let Sasha handle the letters
Sasha writes and signs your name change letter for MetLife and every other company on your list, with your certificate attached. It can even print and mail it to MetLife for you: no printer, no stamps. It also keeps track of who's done. The checklist is free.
